Cognitive-Affective Bases of Behavior

This course will explore the role of cognition and emotion in relation to human functioning. Cognitive and emotional processes will be examined, with particular emphasis on the nature and importance of reciprocal interactions between these two domains, such as occur during emotion regulation. The neurobiological correlates of cognitive and emotional processes, as measured by current neuroimaging and electrophysiological methods, will be surveyed. The significance of cognition and emotion for normal human functioning, psychopathology, and health will be discussed. Current theories and research methods will be addressed.
