Students Show Support for GLBT Community through Pridefest 2010 and Volunteerism

On June 13, several students from The School of Professional Psychology at Forest Institute showed their support for the LGBT community by volunteering at the 2010 Pridefest held on East Commercial Street. This annual event is special because people from the community are able to come out and celebrate their differences.
This years' event was even more unique since it also marked the unveiling of the newly remodeled Gay and Lesbian Center of the Ozarks (GLO Center) of Springfield. GLO is an all-inclusive support haven where youth and adults seek counseling and assistance in the community. Forest and its students have a long history of support for the GLO Center including volunteer work and provision of mental health services in on-site practicum.
Several students from the Forest gay/straight alliance known as the "Gays, Lesbians, and Everyone Else (GLEE) Club" volunteered their time on Saturday, June 5 to move GLO into their freshly renovated offices just in time to host the Pridefest weekend.
