Robert J. Murney Clinic Hosts Grand Re-Opening

After months of renovations, the Robert J. Murney Clinic at Forest Institute celebrated its grand re-opening with two open houses.   The first open house was held Thursday, May 7, for potential referral sources and friends of Forest to enjoy the recently refurbished clinic and visit with its practitioners regarding services provided.  On Friday, May 8, a community-wide block party was held to promote the clinic to the Springfield community.  The Springfield Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors were present Friday to hold the ribbon cutting, along with many of Dr. Murney’s immediate family members.  Forest’s Student Council cooked and served hot dogs, while tours were given of the renovation results.

The expansive transformation has touched every part of the clinic.  New observation rooms were added to increase the number of training opportunities for our students.  Our child therapy rooms were expanded with new toys and furnishings.  A photo and plaque were added to the renovated waiting area to honor Dr. Murney.

For over 25 years, the Robert J. Murney Clinic at Forest Institute has been a partner with the community through service to those seeking behavioral therapy, mental health counseling and assessment services.  As a teaching clinic focused on the latest therapies, interventions and services for their clients, the Robert J. Murney Clinic is the premiere community-based mental health provider in Southwest Missouri.  A sliding fee scale is offered for those without insurance, though many private and public insurance providers are accepted.
