Guest and Other Borrowers

Visiting the Library

Members of the public (i.e. walk-in patrons) can visit and use the Library’s resources during our hours of operation. Please call or visit the website beforehand to be aware of any changes in library hours. Our regular hours are Monday-Thursday 7:30am-9:30pm, Friday 7:30am-5:00pm, Saturday 9:00am-5:00pm and Sunday 1:00pm-8:00pm. During evenings and weekends, the building entrance nearest the Library may be locked for security reasons. Library visitors may be asked to display a work, school or government-issued ID to identify themselves before entering the Forest Library.

Library Databases

The library subscribes to a variety of e-resources to support research in the subject areas of psychology, health sciences, and medicine. As a walk-in patron, you may use any of the library’s databases for research purposes.

Local Area Forest Alumni or Mental Health Professional

If you would like to establish library privileges as a local area Forest student alumni or guest borrower, please complete the Alumni & Guest Borrower Library Card Application. After the application has been completed and approved, the Library will issue you a Forest Institute Library Borrower’s Card which can be used to borrow materials when presented at the Library Circulation Desk. You cannot borrow materials until a library patron record has been created for you in our library system and you have been issued a borrower’s card.

A Guest Borrower must be a member of the local Springfield area professional community who works for a company or organization in the helping professions. You must submit proof of your affiliation such as a work ID or business card. Forest alumni must be in good standing with the library after leaving the school. Any other approvals must be made by the Library Services Manager, Forest Institute VPAA or Forest Institute President.

Guest Borrowers may borrow books from our general circulating collection for three weeks (with no renewal). All other materials (except for the test collection) may be used onsite in the library. However, guest privileges do not include access to SWAN and MOBIUS resources or Interlibrary loan.

Patrons from SWAN or MOBIUS Institutions

Students/Faculty from Patrons from SWAN or MOBIUS institutions are welcome to use the Forest Library onsite. These patrons are limited to checking out or requesting books from the general collection (FIPP GEN) only.
