In a letter from the President, it was announced Monday that Vanessa Welch-Pemberton is the recipient of the 2011 Robert J. Murney Memorial Award.  Welch-Pemberton was nominated by faculty and recently selected through a review committee process.

"Please join me in congratulating our 2011 Robert J. Murney Memorial Award recipient, Vanessa Welch-Pemberton," said Dr. Mark Skrade, President.

 

After Dr. Murney’s passing in 2005 a generous outpouring of donations in his name helped establish the Robert J. Murney Memorial Fund. The award was set up to both respect the wishes and desires of the donors and to honor the personal and professional characteristics of Dr. Murney that left such a positive impression on so many.

The award is only given as the memorial fund matures. Once the fund has reached an award level, Forest engages in a criteria-driven selection and review process to identify and recognize graduating students who have left impressions of personal and professional characteristics reflecting the spirit and legacy of Dr. Murney.

The ways in which Welch-Pemberton reflects those characteristics will be highlighted at graduation this Saturday, October 8th at 1:00pm in the Gillioz Theatre.
