The Robert J. Murney Clinic

CLINIC PURPOSE

The Robert J. Murney Clinic of Forest Institute is a teaching clinic committed to meeting the needs of the citizens of southwest Missouri that lack access to mental health services. This is accomplished through community partnerships, an income-based fee structure, individual, couples, family and group therapies, as well as psycho-educational courses.

As a not-for-profit training facility for clinical psychologists, Murney Clinic is staffed by a variety of skilled providers. Clinical services are provided by supervised psychological trainees, marriage and family trainees, interns and pos t -doctoral residents, as well as licensed psychologists and professional counselors.

CLINIC SERVICES

INDIVIDUAL THERAPY
Individual therapy sessions are available to children, adolescents and adults six days per week. Most people attend therapy one time per week, where each session will typically last for 50 minutes. If you feel that you need to attend sessions more or less frequently, please discuss it with your therapist.

COUPLES/FAMILY THERAPY
Designed to improve and strengthen couple and family relationships, therapy is provided by individuals specifically trained and supervised in the Marriage and Family Therapy program. These sessions can also be tailored for those seeking pre-marital counseling services.

GROUP THERAPY
The Murney Clinic offers group therapy for individuals experiencing a variety of problems. Persons interested in receiving group therapy may meet with the group facilitators for a free consultation to determine if group therapy would be beneficial to his/her situation.

PSYCHOLOGICAL EVALUATIONS/ADDITIONAL SERVICES
Individual psychological evaluations are conducted for both diagnostic and treatment purposes. Parenting classes, anger management classes and various educational courses are available at different times throughout the year. Please contact the clinic for a current schedule or to be placed on the mailing list.

COMMITMENT TO CARE
Murney Clinic is pleased to say that friends and family members of satisfied former clients refer the vast majority of our new clients. In an effort to meet the continually changing needs of the community, we welcome feedback on how we can improve. If you have a suggestion for a service that isn't currently offered, or any idea for improvement, please contact the Director of Marketing.
