Clinical Internship
Forest Institute offers an APA-approved internship in clinical psychology located at the Robert J. Murney Clinic in Springfield, Missouri. As the program model adheres to the principles endorsed by the National Council of Schools of Profession Psychology, interns receive training in seven areas of professional competency, including relationship, intervention, assessment, supervision and management, research and evaluation and diversity. In accordance with those principles, interns provide psychological services, involving both therapy and assessment, to the Murney Clinic clientele, who present with a wide array of psychological issues. Interns also supervise practicum students from Forest Institute working at the Clinic and have additional training opportunities associated with program development, research and teaching. The internship faculty represents diverse theoretical orientations, including CBT, interpersonal/psychodynamic, systemic, and assorted areas of expertise, such as forensic assessment and rehabilitation psychology, group therapy, marriage and family therapy and child and adolescent treatment.
