How to Apply

Forest's Financial Aid Office is always available to help students applying for financial aid. Please remember that the accurate completion of the following steps will help ensure that your student loans and financial assistance is processed in a timely manner. The Financial Aid Office will e-mail an award letter once your financial aid application is complete.

FINANCIAL AID APPLICATION CHECKLIST

  1. Go online to http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/ and complete the FREE application for federal student aid (FAFSA). If you have already completed your FAFSA, please skip to Step 2.
      • You will need to have your income taxes for the previous year to correctly complete the FAFSA.
      • You will always be an independent student at the graduate level. Therefore, do not include any parent information.
      • Forest Institute's federal school code is G21642.
  2. Once you are an accepted student, you will receive access to Scholar360 (our version of Blackboard/Facebook). From there, you will need to download the Financial Aid Packet for your degree program from Scholar360, complete the steps on the instruction page and return the completed packet to the Financial Aid Office.

PLEASE NOTE: Priority deadline for the term starting in late August is the April 1st prior. This will insure timely processing and awarding of Financial Aid for the coming academic year. The Financial Aid Office will contact you if you are missing necessary information.

Aid Distribution

Your financial aid will be applied to your billing statement to cover all charges owed to the school such as tuition, required student fees, and other incidental charges. A refund will be issued if your aid exceeds your charges usually during the second week of your first semester attended then during the first week of each semester thereafter. A $500 advance will be issued for books if you have a completed packet in before the start of your first semester. You may restrict the use of your federal aid to current required student fees and tuition charges only.
