Dear Students,
On
behalf of the administration, faculty and staff of Forest
Institute of Professional Psychology, I welcome each of you
and the contributions and perspectives you bring to
our
profession.
At Forest Institute we are committed to the
highest level of professional and ethical standards of practice.
Our programs,
leading to the doctor of psychology degree and to
the master’s degree in clinical psychology, are based
on a
“
Practitioner Model,” an approach that combines academic
and clinical experience reflecting the newest advances in
the field. Your education will be facilitated
by a high-quality core faculty of diverse academic backgrounds
and specializations who
remain actively engaged in practice of their specialties
and who are skilled at mentoring and
supervising students in the clinical setting. Our student-faculty
ratio is 10 to one.
Across the curriculum, we apply a multi-disciplinary
approach designed to equip our students
with the expertise and skills needed to pursue a range
of professional opportunities. Further,
the growing diversity of our student body, reflecting a
wide range of ages, ethnicity, backgrounds
and experiences, cultivates a deep appreciation for individual
differences and fosters
the ability to work with a variety of populations.
The program at Forest Institute is enriched
by the participation of specialists in a variety of related
fields. These include social workers, licensed professional
counselors, psychiatrists, nurses,
marriage-family therapists, industrial/organizational psychologists
and research psychologists.
Our size, approximately 250 students, allows us to tailor
our educational programs to each
student’s personal goals and to match students with
practicum and internship opportunities
that broaden their experience and skills.
This is an exciting time to be preparing for
a career in clinical psychology.
Increasingly, psychologists are recognized
for the vital services they provide to every segment
of our society. Our graduates are employed in a wide
variety of settings, including health care
organizations, private practice, business, government,
research and universities.
We at Forest Institute are certain you will
be pleased that you have chosen our school as the
place to pursue your educational goals.
